Welcome to Posts From the Edge: A serialized memoir wrapped in essays on civil rights, trauma, politics, and the absurdity of staying alive.
Hi, I’m Alicia Dearn. I planned to spend the second half of my life quietly writing genre-bending romance novels (pen name: Amelia Elliot). But the rise of American Fascism rudely interrupted me. So now I'm back in the courtroom, and also writing about civil rights, the law, politics, and the bizarre things that keep happening to me.
My background: civil rights lawyer, nomad, novelist, trauma survivor, political troublemaker, owner of too many animals, chronically-ill entrepreneur, and unwilling expert in both resilience and disaster. The stories I tell are true. Names may be changed to protect the innocent, or because I forgot them.
I aim to both educate and entertain. Think of my essays like parents hiding vegetables in hot dogs: you get stories, but you also get meaning whether you asked for it or not.
If you like honesty, humor, and the occasional existential crisis, you’ll fit right in.
